Mike van Bokhoven's Heron MJ1
This is the donor car that will be providing most of the mechanical bits. It's a 1994 Subaru Impreza 4wd 1600 automatic. The 4wd auto gearbox won't be used. What will be used is the engine, wiring loom, and brakes. This vehicle has ABS fitted, I may well transfer that to the Heron and fit a disable switch. I know, a 1600 isn't exactly the peak of performance, but it's the same size and shape as the 2 litre turbo, so it's a very good place to start. Once I have it running with the 1600, it'll be easy to slot anything else in there, like the turbo, or an H6 (6-cylinder 3 litre version of the same engine). These photos were taken after I'd already removed the rear suspension.
